The Rise of the Phoenixes is a Chinese drama series that is loosely inspired by the novel Huang Quan written by Tianxia Guiyuan. The show stars Chen Kun and Ni Ni in the leading roles. The series first premiered on Hunan television on August 14, 2018, and was later picked up by Netflix and aired on Netflix on September 14, 2018. It is the very first television drama to be filmed in Tang City film studios as this was a period drama. The story follows the sixth prince of the ruling kingdom and his journey to take revenge and free his mother from the accusations of high treason. The story is intriguing and adventurous, the plots are layered and keep you guessing throughout. The Rise of the Phoenixes Cast Who’s in it? The show has a huge cast and crew. Ni Dahong plays Ning Shizheng who is the Ruler of Tiansheng kingdom. He is a shrewd and distrustful man. Hai Yitian plays Ning Chuan, The Crown prince of Tiansheng Kingdom. He is ambitious but a useless and incapable man who depends heavily on Chang Hai and other advisors to strategize and plan for him. Shi An plays Ning Sheng, the Second Prince of Tiansheng Kingdom. He is Ambitious but quite cruel and is a key contender for the throne. Liu Zhehui plays Ning Qiao, the third prince of Tiansheng Kingdom. He was wrongly killed after being accused of high treason by his political opponents. Xu Hao plays Ning, the Princess Shaoning of Tiansheng Kingdom. She is loved dearly and doted on by the Emperor and the Crown prince. Li Tiannuo plays Ning, the Fifth Prince of Tiansheng Kingdom. He is brainless and extremely greedy. Qu Gaowei plays Ning Qi, the Seventh Prince of Tiansheng Kingdom. He is not treated well due to his mother’s lowly status and thinks of Ning Yi as his biggest adversary. C'est une série en gros d'espionnage mais avec un un bon geste d'humour/aborde. C'est une série qui arrive à parler par exemple du problème qu'il y a à amener quelque chose d'un point A à un point B, mais aussi à travers un de ces personnages des problèmes de violence policière, le tout avec un scène qui dure bien quoi 3min dans laquelle on voit 2 personnages s'affronter dans un duel de pierre/papier/ciseau et un personnage principal qui écrit des chansons tout en racontant si on peut dire sa journée de boulot... Franchement une perle cette série, je vois pas de comparaison en fait. Car c'est à la fois très sérieux dans le sujet traité et dans le ton, mais aussi totalement WTF par moment, touchant, triste, drôle, bref tout à la fois.. Les acteurs sont géniaux, l'écriture tout autant avec des dialogue savoureux et des scènes aussi. Bref parmis les séries à voir sur prime vidéo y a celle là à voir. D'ailleurs la saison2 arrive bientôt et j'ai hâte. Après ça plaît ou pas je pense, mais essayez au moins 2 épisodes. Car j'ai failli m'arrêter au 1er perso car c'était assez déroutant faut dire. La série m'a fait penser à un mix d'Inception pour le sujet dont elle traite et The leftovers pour le côté lunaire de la série. Emma Stone et Jonah Hill gèrent bien à l'écran en tout cas, j'ai bien aimé leur duo. J'ai eu un peur au début car c'est du Netflix mais au final c'est plutôt bon une fois que l'on est dedans. Je pense que les avis pour cette série vont être assez tranchés. Homecoming Des épisodes de 30-35 min ça fait bizarre mais ça collait bien à cette série. Franchement j'ai passé un bon moment mais je pense que ça aurait pu être mieux, ça manquait un peu de saveur. La BO était flippante parfois voir démesuré par rapport à ce que l'on nous montrait à l'écran, ça gâchait un peu des scènes. Bon je dis ça mais j'ai quand même apprécié.
